Holloway's Store (See Bath)
Holloway's Store is a historical, short-lived post office and likely
associated small rural settlement in Walker County, Texas, with no
documented population estimates, businesses beyond the presumed store,
or incorporation. The post office operated briefly during the Reconstruction era, first
established on January 21, 1867, with James A. McDaniel as postmaster,
followed by Richard J. Goldman on April 29, 1867, before
discontinuation on March 23, 1868. It was re-established on February 10, 1869, with Martin Palmer as
postmaster, then E. G. Butler on October 17, 1871, and finally
discontinued on February 12, 1872. The site appears in contemporary directories, such as the 1871 Texas
Almanac, confirming Martin Palmer as postmaster at the time, and
Logan's Railway Business Directory, which lists it among Southwestern
post offices without further details.
No specific location coordinates, elevation, nearby landmarks, or
additional historical context—such as founding settlers, economic
activities, or reasons for discontinuation—are recorded in available
sources, suggesting it was a minor crossroads or farming area stop.
No schools, churches, cemeteries, or other institutions are associated
with it, and no remnants or modern references to the settlement exist
today.
